Cylindrical Rubber Fenders Shipped to Salvador

Recently, a batch of high-performance CY1500 cylindrical rubber fenders has passed factory inspection and been shipped to Porto de Salvador (BRSSA), Brazil. These marine fenders will deliver reliable impact-absorbing protection for vessel berthing and mooring operations, improving safety performance for this key hub port in Northeast Brazil.

Porto de Salvador is a major comprehensive maritime gateway in Bahia State, handling containers, general cargo, fruit exports and cruise vessels. Subject to tropical coastal climate, significant tidal range, heavy vessel traffic and frequent angled berthing, the port imposes strict requirements on fender energy absorption, anti-aging capability and multi-condition compatibility. The supplied CY1500 cylindrical rubber fenders are optimized for local berthing scenarios for large cargo ships and container vessels.

Key Advantages of CY Cylindrical Rubber Fenders

1. High energy absorption, low reaction force and low surface pressure to protect both quay and hull

Formulated with specially compounded high-resilience rubber, CY cylindrical fenders efficiently absorb massive kinetic energy when vessels approach berths. While absorbing large amounts of impact energy, the fender generates controlled reaction force and low contact surface pressure. During docking operations, it dissipates vessel inertia force to prevent concrete quay structures from cracking and chipping, meanwhile avoiding denting, scratching and coating damage to ship hull plates. Stable buffering performance is maintained even with minor variations in berthing velocity, effectively mitigating berthing accident risks.

2. Superior marine environment resistance against salt-water corrosion and UV radiation for extended service life

The rubber compound is tailored for tropical South-American coastal conditions. Porto de Salvador suffers from high temperature, heavy salt spray and intense ultraviolet sunlight, which normally cause ordinary rubber to harden, crack and powder quickly. CY fenders feature excellent resistance to seawater corrosion, salt-spray penetration, UV and ozone cracking, together with outstanding abrasion resistance against repeated hull friction. Rubber performance degrades very slowly under harsh outdoor port conditions. Less frequent inspection and replacement directly cut port maintenance material costs and labour downtime.

3. Excellent tidal adaptability, flexible installation & maintenance for new-build and quay retrofitting

Thanks to round cylindrical geometry, these fenders perform well at ports with notable tidal variation. As vessel draft changes during loading and unloading, CY fenders maintain consistent contact with hulls both for fully-loaded deep-draft ships and ballasted light-draft vessels, avoiding ineffective disengagement. Fenders can be mounted by chains, steel wires or lifting straps. Major reconstruction on existing quay structures is not required, suitable for new berth construction as well as old terminal upgrading. On-site inspection, disassembly and replacement are straightforward, shortening maintenance working hours.

4. Reliable performance under angled berthing, smooth load-deflection curve for heavy-duty frequent operations

Manufactured in accordance with marine industry standards, the fenders deliver smooth and steady load-deflection characteristics without sharp stress peaks. In real-world port operations, vessels commonly berth at oblique angles. CY cylindrical fenders keep stable energy-absorbing capacity under angled impacts, free from local stress-concentration damage. Suited for heavy-duty round-the-clock operations with frequent vessel calls at Port of Salvador, the rubber material offers great antifatigue property. No permanent deformation occurs after repeated compression-rebound cycles, so protective functions remain consistent over long-term service.

This project marks another milestone for Chinese marine protection equipment expanding into the South-American market. Once put into service, the CY1500 rubber fenders will strengthen the safety infrastructure of Porto de Salvador, supporting smooth cargo handling and cruise shipping. We will keep delivering reliable port rubber fender solutions for global port infrastructure development.
